AEF at 1ST Cyclades Fishers Forum

On Friday, 28 November 2025, we had the pleasure of participating in the first Cyclades Fishers Forum in Piraeus, organised by the Cyclades Preservation Fund with the support of the Blue Marine Foundation, aiming to open a meaningful dialogue on the shared challenges and good practices in small-scale coastal fisheries.
Our participation as AEF gave us the opportunity to compare the experiences of fishers from the Argosaronic Gulf with those of their colleagues from other parts of Greece, helping us gain an even deeper understanding of the needs and challenges of this vital sector today.
Coastal fisheries have been part of our history and identity for thousands of years. Yet today, they face significant pressures: unsustainable practices, environmental changes, and policies that often fall short of addressing the real needs of fishers.
As AEF, we stand with the small-scale fishers of the Argosaronic. We believe that the transition to healthy, sustainable seas requires the collaboration of all stakeholders -professionals, scientists, organisations, and public authorities- working together with seriousness, consistency, and a shared vision.
The challenges are many, but history has shown that meaningful change comes through collective effort, perseverance, and the courage to go beyond the usual boundaries.
From our side, we will continue to support every meaningful and responsible initiative that protects our seas and the people who depend on them.

Την Παρασκευή 28 Νοεμβρίου 2025, είχαμε τη χαρά να συμμετάσχουμε στο πρώτο Cyclades Fishers Forum, στον Πειραιά, που διοργανώθηκε από το Cyclades Preservation Fund με την υποστήριξη του Blue Marine Foundation, με στόχο να ανοίξει έναν ουσιαστικό διάλογο για τις κοινές προκλήσεις και τις καλές πρακτικές στην παράκτια αλιεία.
Η συμμετοχή μας ως AEF μας έδωσε τη δυνατότητα να συγκρίνουμε τις εμπειρίες των αλιέων του Αργοσαρωνικού με εκείνες συναδέλφων τους από άλλες περιοχές της Ελλάδας και να κατανοήσαμε ακόμη βαθύτερα τις ανάγκες και τις προκλήσεις αυτού του καίριου τομέα σήμερα.
Η παράκτια αλιεία αποτελεί κομμάτι της ιστορίας και της ταυτότητάς μας για χιλιάδες χρόνια. Σήμερα, όμως, βρίσκεται αντιμέτωπη με σημαντικές πιέσεις: μη βιώσιμες πρακτικές, περιβαλλοντικές αλλαγές και πολιτικές που συχνά υπολείπονται σε σχέση με τις πραγματικές ανάγκες των ψαράδων.
Ως AEF, στεκόμαστε στο πλευρό των παράκτιων αλιέων του Αργοσαρωνικού. Πιστεύουμε ότι η μετάβαση σε βιώσιμες θάλασσες απαιτεί συνεργασία όλων των εμπλεκομένων: επαγγελματίες, επιστήμονες, οργανώσεις και αρχές να δουλεύουμε με σοβαρότητα, συνέπεια και κοινό όραμα.
Τα εμπόδια είναι πολλά, όμως η ιστορία μας έχει διδάξει ότι οι σημαντικές αλλαγές έρχονται μέσα από συλλογική προσπάθεια, επιμονή και το θάρρος να ξεπεράσουμε τα συνηθισμένα όρια.
Από τη δική μας πλευρά, θα συνεχίσουμε να στηρίζουμε κάθε ουσιαστική και υπεύθυνη προσπάθεια που προστατεύει τις θάλασσές μας και τους ανθρώπους που ζουν από αυτές.
Ένα μεγάλο ευχαριστώ στο Cyclades Preservation Fund και στο Blue Marine Foundation για τη φιλοξενία και το δυναμικό ξεκίνημα μιας τόσο σημαντικής πρωτοβουλίας.
