A Concert for Collective Action for our Seas in Poros
“Thalassa Mana,” an artistic evening dedicated to marine environmental protection, is taking place on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Karamanou Square in Poros. Organized by Katheti and AKTAIA, with co-funding from the Argosaronic Environment Foundation and the Rauch Foundation, this event will illuminate the crucial role our seas play in sustaining life and culture while raising awareness about the urgent need for their protection.
The evening will kick off with a compelling 20-minute excerpt from the documentary “The Sanctuary of Neptune,” showcasing local residents’ testimonies and the beauty of the Poros area. This visual narrative will set the stage for deeper discussions about the impacts of industrial fish farming on coastal ecosystems, emphasizing the pressing need for conservation efforts.
The concert, curated by renowned artist Lina Nikolakopoulou, will feature performances by Thodoris Voutsikakis and Eleni Demopoulou, accompanied by a four-piece orchestra. Through powerful music dedicated to the sea, the concert serves as a rallying cry for collective action to protect our marine resources from harmful practices.
With the approval of new fish farms looming, the event seeks to unite the community in safeguarding the delicate balance of our coastal environments. Join us for this enlightening evening, where every voice contributes to the call for the preservation of Greece’s precious marine ecosystems.
The event is held under the auspices of the Municipality of Poros and with the support of the Municipalities of Troizinia, Spetses, Epidaurus, Ermionida, North Kynouria, Salamina, Kymi-Aliverio, West Lesvos and Xiromero.
