Our visit at General High School of Poros

Our visit to Poros in February was truly enriching! We had the opportunity to meet two incredibly dedicated representatives of the General High School, the Director and the English teacher, whose commitment to education and environmental awareness is remarkable.

It all started last November when they submitted a thoughtful and well-prepared grant application, bringing us together with a shared mission—to increase awareness about the ecological importance and the challenges facing Posidonia oceanica meadows, our precious underwater forests.

During our visit, we were warmly welcomed and given an insightful guided tour of the school premises. We were impressed by the facilities and the atmosphere and pleased to encounter a well-organised school striving to provide students with diverse and enriching learning experiences.

Despite the challenges that island schools often face, the dedication of enthusiastic educators makes a real difference. The creative educational program they have designed under the title Posidonia Oceanica: Our Valuable Underwater Forests, with contributions from university academics, researchers, NGOs, and local divers, will inspire curiosity and actively engage children through hands-on participation.

We deeply admire their passion, exciting things are on the horizon!
